Our History
For 10 years Saline Soulution has operated in Sarasota. It all began with a homeless man named Tony that Dr. Burns met
one afternoon while serving food at another local homeless ministry. Tony had a wound on his leg. Dr. Burns could see that
the wound was so severe that the bone was exposed. But the doctor recognized a deeper wound in Tony, a wound that was visible
in his eyes. Tony was distrustful, hurt and lost. Tony needed God. That is where Saline Soulution started, with a tackle box
full of bandages and a few medicines in a park and a group of volunteers that wanted to show the love of Christ. After a while,
due to community pressure, the ministry was moved inside the Salvation Army and remained there for a few years. Three years
ago, God prompted Dr. Burns to purchase an RV to use as a mobile medical unit. We currently work in conjunction with the Salvation
Army and offer our service on Sunday afternoon in the Salvation Army parking lot located at 911 Central in Sarasota. The medical
team also takes the mobile unit to Tampa on Thursday evenings, joining with another homeless ministry that provides a meal
to the homeless of that area.
